Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for VW, Skoda and SEAT MIB1/MIB2 Systems
If your VW, Skoda or SEAT has an MIB1 or MIB2 infotainment system without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, this retrofit adds both while retaining the original screen and factory controls.
It is designed to work with the existing display, so there is no need to replace the head unit or fit an aftermarket screen. The dashboard keeps its original look, but you gain modern features such as wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, live navigation, music streaming and hands-free calling.

What This Retrofit Adds
The module connects to the rear of the original multimedia unit and adds wireless smartphone integration to compatible MIB1 and MIB2 systems.
Once fitted, you can use:
- Wireless Apple CarPlay
- Wireless Android Auto
- Google Maps, Waze and Apple Maps
- Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and other audio apps
- Siri and Google Assistant voice control
- Hands-free calls and messaging
- Mirror-Link support using AirPlay or similar features
- USB video and media playback
- Original steering wheel and multimedia controls
- Original or aftermarket front/rear cameras, where supported
You can also switch between CarPlay or Android Auto and the original factory infotainment system whenever needed.
Keeping the Factory Look
One of the main benefits of this retrofit is that it does not change the look of the car’s interior. Your original screen, buttons, menus and controls stay in place.
This makes it a good option if you want modern phone connectivity without fitting a large aftermarket display or changing the dashboard layout.
Compatibility
This kit is made for selected Volkswagen, Skoda and SEAT vehicles with MIB1 or MIB2 systems.
The important check is the multimedia unit. Open the passenger side glove box and look for a factory unit with a CD slot and SD card slots, usually marked SD1 and SD2. If your car has this unit in the glove box, this retrofit is designed to connect to it.
Common compatible models include:
- VW Golf 7 (2013-2017)
- VW Passat B8 (2014-2020)
- VW Tiguan (2016-2020)
- VW Polo (2014-2017, some versions)
- VW Arteon (2017-2023)
- VW T-Roc (2017-2023)
- VW Jetta (2015-2019)
- Skoda Octavia (2013-2020)
- Skoda Superb (2015-2020)
- Skoda Kodiaq (2017-2023)
- SEAT Leon (2013-2020)
- SEAT Ateca (2016-2023)
Please check the glove box unit before ordering. Even if your vehicle is listed above, the retrofit will not be compatible if the required infotainment unit is not located in the glove box.

Installation
This is not a USB dongle. The module needs to be connected behind the original multimedia unit, so the glove box area and trim panels may need to be removed to access the rear connections.
The kit uses a supplied harness to connect into the existing system. Once installed, the original infotainment remains in place and the new CarPlay/Android Auto interface can be accessed when required.
Basic DIY skills are needed. Please make sure you are comfortable with the installation before buying, or arrange professional installation if you are unsure.
Why It Is Worth Upgrading
Many VW Group cars from this period still drive well and look modern, but the infotainment can feel dated. Adding wireless CarPlay and Android Auto makes daily driving easier, especially if you rely on live traffic, music apps, calls or voice control.
Instead of using older factory navigation, you can use apps such as Waze, Google Maps or Apple CarPlay directly through the original display.
